Boat, swim, waterski, and fish on the warm waters of Willard Bay. Camp under tall cottonwood trees that frame the night sky. Anglers fish for walleye, channel catfish, black crappie, and wipers. During winter months, Willard Bay is a wildlife watching area for nesting eagles. Two areas, North and South Marinas, offer all the amenities for a weekend at the bay.

I-15 north to Ogden. East on 12th Street to the mouth of Ogden Canyon, SR-39. This byway can be divided into 3 distinct parts—Ogden Canyon, Pineview Reservoir, and the Monte Cristo Road. Once you enter the canyon the road quickly narrows and its cliff walls are steep, rugged, and wildly beautiful with layers of limestone and shale streaked with cream, pink, and red. Excellent fishing and hiking can be found in the canyon. Perched at the top of the canyon, 6 miles from the mouth, is scenic Pineview Reservoir and dam. Water recreation is popular year-round, with boat ramps, camping, and picnic facilities. A worthwhile stop for bird watchers is Ogden Bay Waterfowl Management Area’s North Arm Viewing Site, with a pedestrian nature trail. Past the reservoir the byway passes through the town of Huntsville on the way to a steep ascent through South Fork Canyon. The road follows the south fork of the Ogden River through heavily wooded landscapes. As the byway nears Monte Cristo summit, you can glimpse views of Monte Cristo Peak through stands of spruce and Douglas fir. Due to snow conditions, portions of this route are closed in winter.

The Northern Utah Trailfest is a fall celebration for all trail users! It’s a festival for outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys adventure and recreation. Runners, hikers, and mountain bikers—amateurs and seasoned athletes alike—will enjoy the challenge of the NUT Trail Run and Mountain Bike Race as they compete to complete the most course laps in 3, 6 or 9\* hours. Camp for the weekend or spend the day at North Fork Park as trail users of all ages and abilities come together to enjoy tasty food, live music, and the Free Community Trailfest-ival at Cutler Flats Base Camp.Experience the beauty of fall foliage and share in the excitement and camaraderie of the ‘NUT’ by participating in free festival activities and educational opportunities including guided hikes, stargazing, yoga, and more.
