Since its inception in 2006, K9 Nose Work® has introduced detection-dog style training to sport dog trainers and their competition dogs. The rapid growth of this enthusiastic community soon led to a demand for structured competitions, inspiring the founding of the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW). Our organization was established to uphold the highest standards of excellence and provide a structured framework for competitors engaging in this innovative sport.
To further support the growth and education of our participants, we launched the NACSW Education Division, enabling individuals to share their passion for K9 Nose Work® with others. At NACSW, our mission is to harness the natural search and scenting instincts of dogs, fostering strong human-animal bonds through scent detection activities that promote mutual respect and highlight the remarkable abilities of our canine athletes.
As the pioneering competitive dog sport organization for scent work, we remain dedicated to expanding opportunities for dog-handler teams through both the NACSW Trial Division and the K9 Nose Work® Education and Instructor Certification program.
Photos of dogs working in environments such as churches, fire stations, camps and gyms can be found attached. Only one dog at a time is working in a space, and all competitors are required to clean up after their dogs in the outdoor spaces of the trial site. Dog potty/relief areas can be designated and will be strictly enforced.
We are searching for multiple sites to host quarterly events. No site can be repeated in a six-month period.
