Dakota Oyate Challenge

Welcome to the 2026 Dakota Oyate Challenge “DOC” Girls and Boys Basketball Tournament.

The term “Oyate’ is a Lakota term which means “Nation”. This is the Boys 37th annual and the Girls 32nd annual Dakota Nation Challenge Basketball Tournament.

Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Corn Palace

8 AM - Tiospaye Topa vs. Crazy Horse (Girls)

9:30 AM - Tiospaye Topa vs. Wakpala (Boys)

11 AM - Wakpala vs. Flandreau Indian (Girls)

12:30 PM - Flandreau Indian vs. Tiospa Zina (Boys)

2 PM - Tiospaye Zina vs. Lower Brule (Girls)

3:30 PM - Lower Brule vs. Crazy Horse (Boys)

5 PM - Um "Ho" Nation vs. Marty (Girls)

6:30 PM - Omaha Nation vs. Marty (Boys)

I want to wish coaches and athletes the best of luck. Don’t forget, hard work, respect, and good sportsmanship are core values of our high school sports. Make new friends, be safe, and most importantly have fun. To the friends, family, and fans, your support of these young athletes continues to be a driving force behind the longevity of this tournament. We thank you for it.
