McLean-Teddy Bear Park

McLean Teddy Bear Park was the first park under the jurisdiction of the Park District. The original 42 acres was acquired in 1972 through a no cost, 99 year lease with the Allen County Commissioners. There was a great effort through the Lima Area Jaycees in developing the park: therefor the commissioners gave them the honor of naming the park.

The Jaycees named the park after Mr. McLean, who would provide every child in the area hospitals a teddy bear to help comfort them during their time there.

There are a variety of natural habitats found at McLean Teddy Bear Park for people of all ages to enjoy. The trails that are developed through the park afford great wildlife viewing, as well as, a great place to run and play.
