About Northern Michigan University

Superior Dome - 5th largest dome structure in the world, 14 stories high. The Dome has a permanent seating capacity of 8,00 although the building can hold as many as 16,000. The Dome has retractable artificial turf that can accommodate football, soccer and lacrosse. Underneath the carpet is a synthetic surface that features 3 Basketball/volleyball courts and a 200 meter track. Berry Events Center houses hockey and men's and women's basketball teams. Seating capacity 3,800 with 16 luxury boxes. Additional room for 400 standing fans. When used for hockey the BEC has an Olympic sized sheet of ice. Vandament Arena home for women's volleyball, seats 1,500. Outside the Superior Dome are 4 athletic fields - 2 fields are practice fields for football and the other 2 serve as game field and practice field for NMU Soccer (field measures 120 x 80). PEIF Swimming/diving facility - 8 lanes and a diving tank with one and 3 meter springboards. PEIF Basketball practice facility features 2 courts with 8 baskets.
