The Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a 12,000-seat arena that serves as the primary home for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. The arena opened in 1960 and was dedicated to serve as a memorial to veterans from all wars. The building boasts a 12,000-seat arena, a 40,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall, and seven meeting rooms.
Once the home of the Trail Blazers for 25 years, a respect for tradition and the history of basketball reverberate around the walls of Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Presently, the coliseum has seating for 12,888 during basketball events and is the home of the Portland Winterhawks, who play at Veterans Coliseum as well as the Moda Center. When configured for hockey, the coliseum holds 12,000 seats. Currently the venue hosts more than 150 events per annum and has hosted a bevy of major international events in the past, including the 2007 Davis Cup and President Obama’s first campaign rally in Portland.
