Harbor View Trail

The Harbor View Trail connects the campground, marina, parks, beach, and the community's business district, map in the website link provided.

It is a paved path that weaves through town, park areas and along Lake Huron at times. It is currently about two miles long, with plans for expansion.

The Harbor View Trail occupies a former rail bed—now shared with overhead electric transmission wires—on the southern edge of Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac. The trail parallels Harbor View Drive for its entire length. The park is a highlight of the route, offering more than 400 acres of recreational space (and a lighthouse!) on the scenic southern shore of Lake Winnebago.

In the east, trail users can continue across the Winnebago Drive Bridge to reach the much longer Peebles Trail, open on the same out-of-service rail corridor. The two trails are part of a network called the Fond du Lac Loop, which encircles the city and also includes the paved Prairie Trail.

Parking and Trail Access Because the Harbor View Trail is located within popular Lakeside Park, parking is plentiful. Three official parking lots can be found along Harbor View Drive, with another at the trail's western end (Doty Street and Water Street).
