About Noccalula Falls Park & Campground

Encompassing 500 acres of land situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Noccalula Falls Park, and Campground is a must-see destination in Northeast Alabama. Created and managed by the City of Gadsden Parks and Recreation Department, the original park opened in 1953 and has since become the destination of Hikers, Campers, and families from all over the world.

Central to the park is Black Creek, which divides the park into two sections; the Park and the. Campground. Situated directly in the middle is Noccalula Falls, a beautiful 90-foot waterfall that drops into a gorge that runs for miles downstream.

On the park side of Black Creek, visitors can visit a beautifully landscaped oasis including a Botanical Garden, Animal Habit, and historical buildings built in the late 1700s and 1800s, as well as ride one of two miniature trains that travel through the park on a mile-long journey through history. Once you’ve seen the park and all it has to offer, head down the Gorge Trail along a path that takes you down to the cavern behind the falls. As you head out of the park for the day, make sure you stop into our Gift Shop and grab a souvenir to remember your trip by.

On the other side of Black Creek, you will find our warm and inviting, family-centered Campground. Once you check-in at the Campground office, you’ll be given directions to one of over 100 sites where you may camp. There are both primitive campsites as well as full RV compatible sites. Included on-site as well are 2 full bathhouses with restrooms, a laundry room, library/media room, pool, and a meeting room that is available for rental (if available), and 15 miles of trails to explore.

In addition to all of these amenities, Noccalula Falls hosts many events throughout the year. Just a few are Christmas at the Falls, Art On the Rocks, Car Shows, Smoke on the Falls, The Barbarian Challenge, and many others.

Come join us for all the fun and excitement.
