McDill Pond

McDill Pond is a 262-acre hard water impoundment, located in the Village of Whiting, near Stevens Point. McDill Pond has a maximum depth of 14 feet and a bottom consisting of primarily sand, with some gravel, silt, and muck. McDill Pond has a long history, dating back to 1853 when the original dam was first constructed for logging purposes. There is a small park below the dam that serves an abundance of waterfowl and an osprey nest near the northern tip of this urban pond. Panfish and large-mouth bass are the common fish species in McDill, with small-mouth bass and northern pike also present. A public boat launch is present on the east shore of the pond.

There is a short 9 hole disk golf course with woods and elevation in a very scenic area of Stevens Point right off McDill Pond. The course retained 6 of its original holes with 3 holes changed, and is now reopened after 8 years of dormancy.
