The building of life-long habits of fitness and wellness are an important part of education at Seton Hill University. The Katherine Mabis McKenna Center provides beautifully equipped facilities to accommodate the needs of new programs, growing enrollments, and the entire Seton Hill community. The centerpiece of the 44,000 square-foot Center is the competition Salvitti Gymnasium seating 1,200. The facility also offers aerobics and fitness rooms, a weight facility, locker rooms, two intramural courts, athletic training facilities and athletic department offices. The Eden Hall Foundation running track, which circles the second floor of the Center, offers panoramic views of the Laurel Highlands on one hand, and an unobstructed view of the gymnasium on the other. Many athletic teams still utilize Sullivan Gymnasium, adjacent and connected to the McKenna Center as a practice facility. Sullivan boasts one full-size court for basketball and volleyball, as well as two indoor batting cages located on the balcony level with pitching machines for softball and baseball.
The Seton Hill Baseball complex experienced a complete renovation during the summer of 2017, highlighted by a brand new artificial playing surface from Astroturf. The new synthetic field replaced the original multi-purpose field that was installed in 2005. In addition to the stunning new surface, the dimensions of the field were altered allowing more foul territory, and a more symmetrical outfield (330 LF – 390 CF - 340 RF). A few unique changes were made to the ballpark, which include a 16 ft. fence in left field, an artificial turf game mound, artificial turf bullpen areas, a wider 22 ft. high netting system backstop, and the addition of 26 chair back seats behind homeplate giving a ground level view for fans. Two full length batting cages were also resurfaced with artificial turf as part of the renovation. A small grandstand seats 100, with side bleachers seating an additional 50 spectators. The baseball complex is complemented by its sister diamon, the SHU Softball complex, which similarly boasts an AstroTurf playing field and a small grandstand.
