Now, visitors to Millennium Park can enjoy a variety of boating opportunities on the main lakes of the park. At the DeVos Family Boathouse, we offer kayaks, paddle boats, canoes and row boats for rent. Boaters can explore the south section of Lake Leota near the beach as well as the north section of the lake, by paddling under a trail bridge. A paved pathway connects the new boating center to the beach area, near the Splashpad.

The closest beach to Grand Rapids is just five minutes from downtown and offers six acres of sandy lake frontage, a well-marked swimming area, boat rentals and one of America’s Top 10 Splashpads. Millennium Park’s beach facilities include locker and changing rooms, restrooms, picnic areas and a concession stand with hot food, snacks and frozen treats. Daily admission to the beach and splashpad is $4 for ages 16-62, $3 for ages 63 & older and $2 for children ages 3-15. Ages 2 and under get in free. Season passes are also available. Millennium is one of the nation’s largest urban parks, spanning 1,400 acres and nearly 18 miles of paved hiking/biking trails through diverse terrain. Pets are not allowed in the beach area but are permitted on a leash of six foot or less elsewhere in the park. There is no fee for accessing non-beach portions of the park.

The 2026 Thunderfest Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, presented by Fusion Medical, is a Grand Rapids Thunder home tournament taking place October 24–25, 2026, at MSA Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This six-team Division II–III wheelchair rugby competition welcomes athletes, coaches, volunteers, and officials, with lunch and a tournament T-shirt provided to participants. Tournament schedules will be emailed after rosters are received, with roster submissions due October 13.

The mission of Special Olympics Michigan is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Athletes develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy while participating in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship among their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community. The athletes achieve their dreams with the support of caring volunteers, coaches, family members and staff. Donations from Michigan citizens and businesses provide funding for the program.

Millennium Park is one of our nation's largest urban parks with portions in Grand Rapids, Walker, Grandville and Wyoming. With 1,400 acres of rolling terrain and six miles of frontage on the Grand River, the park is rich in natural resources, featuring unique habitats and large natural areas for wildlife to thrive. Planning for the park was launched in the year 2000. As a regional celebration of our nation's millennium, the park is an ambitious project to eventually reclaim 1,500 acres of heavily-used land for public recreation. Now stretching between Johnson Park and John Ball Park, Millennium Park offers an abundance of land to explore and outdoor activities to enjoy.

We are an economic generator through sports tourism for Greater Grand Rapids and Kent County in the West Michigan area.

We own and operate an award winning baseball/softball complex; the Meijer Sports Complex [www.MeijerSportsComplex.com](https://www.MeijerSportsComplex.com) featuring eight fields, including a championship field that seats 1,000.
