Michigan Audubon has created an 898-acre Sandhill Crane sanctuary with two groomed trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. Besides cranes, keep an eye out for bald eagles, trumpeter swans, northern harriers, migrating waterfowl and diverse warblers. It's the second-largest property owned and managed by Michigan Audubon. The mission of the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau is to enhance the Battle Creek/Calhoun County economy through tourism – to position and sell our community, in partnership with public and private sectors, as a premier destination for competitive sporting events, conventions, tradeshows, corporate meetings, group tours, and individual leisure travel.

Battle Creekis a leading destination for regional and national amateur sporting events including a variety of Michigan High School Athletic Association state finals, national wrestling and gymnastics events, and baseball and softball World Series tournaments.
