Walker Park

Walker Park was the second park added to the city parks system in 1949. Park patrons enjoy a variety of activities such as baseball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, horseshoes, handball/racquetball, volleyball, tennis, basketball, skateboarding, walking/jogging and biking. It is also recognized as a great picnicking spot and location to have a family or social gathering. In 2014, a connection to Frisco Trail was completed as part of the Regional Razorback Greenway. Walker Park has been developed into a highly utilized park that meets a variety of recreational needs for the community to enjoy.

Walker Park has been the home of youth baseball in Fayetteville since the 1960s when volunteers built the original baseball fields and concession stand. In 2014, upgrades to the concession / restroom building were completed. Other improvements to the Walker Park baseball facility include new dugouts and bleacher covers which were completed in 2013.

Citizens may learn about the history of South Fayetteville by viewing the mural painted on the exterior walls of the handball court located off of 15th Street. Dating back to the early 1800’s, the mural portrays the life and times of South Fayetteville, Arkansas. The idea was to use the drab gray concrete walls of the court as a canvas to create a pictorial history of South Fayetteville.
