Next time you watch Tom Hanks’ movie, “Road to Perdition,” look closely, and you just might recognize Olive Shores Park. This mostly wooded park on Lake Michigan was used in the filming; a marker has been placed on the site where filming occurred. The park is known for its sandy swimming beach and trails (including a barrier-free loop), boardwalks, decks, and stairs that traverse the park’s signature dune. Olive Shores Park is a great spot to watch spectacular Lake Michigan sunsets. The park offers a paved parking area, modern restrooms, and picnic tables.
Olive Shores is part of the Ottawa County Parks system; there is a per-vehicle parking fee from April 1 to October 31.
Dogs are not allowed at Olive Shores.
