Chisman Creek Park

Chisman Creek Park features two-lighted softball fields and restrooms. It is primarily used for the County’s adult softball program in the spring, summer, and fall.

This 13-acre reclaimed fly ash site opened in the spring of 1991. The park features two-lighted softball fields with skinned infields and vamont bermuda irrigated outfields and restrooms.

The back softball field was dedicated in memory of Dr. W Ward Anderson, Jr., on November 15, 1992. Dr. Anderson served on the Board of Supervisors from January 1988 until his death on January 11, 1992. During his service to the county, Dr. Anderson enthusiastically supported the construction of the Chisman Creek Park softball complex and was himself an avid participant in a variety of sports throughout his life.

Fly Ash Success Story Thanks to a unique agreement among Virginia Power, York County, and the Environmental Protection Agency, softball teams today shag fly balls and soccer players score goals on a "Superfund" site where fly ash and petroleum coke once polluted well water. The $10 million change from waste site to recreational parks occurred in 1991 with the dedication of 2 softball fields at Chisman Creek Park.
