About Omaha Lancers

35 SEASONS OF TRADITION ..... 14 CHAMPIONSHIPS

FROM WORST...
From humble beginnings in 1986 at Hitchcock Ice Arena, with the worst record in the USHL at 0-48-0, the Lancers struggled to rise from the ashes of Omaha hockey legend that had created such hockey greats as Motto McLean, Eddie Bruneteau and NHL Hall of Famer Gordie Howe.

TO FIRST...
The Lancers surprised the hockey world in 1990 with the Cinderella story of a lifetime. The Lancers went from last place in the United States Hockey League (USHL) to winning the league, the playoffs, finishing runner-up in the national tournament and boasting sellout crowds at Ak-Sar-Ben Coliseum. The legend was born.

TO LEGEND...
In 2004, Omaha hockey legend combined with national hockey legends, and a new era of Lancers hockey began. The Lancers ownership group is second to none, consisting of President/Managing Partner Ben Robert, NHL Hall of Famers Mario Lemieux and Luc Robitaille, Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 USA Olympic Gold medal hockey team and businessman John Donovan.

TODAY…

In January of 2022 the United States Hockey League approved the sale of a majority interest in American Hockey Group, Inc., the parent company of the Omaha Lancers, to Mike Picozzi. Donato Ardellini purchased the remaining shares from Anthony "Koots" DiCeare shortly after Picozzi's purchase. Existing Omaha Lancer investors, retained a minority ownership position in the team.

A TRADITION OF SUCCESS...
Throughout both collegiate and professional levels of hockey, the Omaha Lancers are considered to be one of the best Tier-1 programs in the United States. Our organization is second to none in providing gifted players a premier training ground to develop skills for the transition to future college and professional play.

The Lancers have built a strong winning tradition, winning a total of 14 championships in the teams' 35 years of existence, the most of any USHL franchise. That list includes five USHL Anderson Cup Championships, seven Clark Cup Playoff Championships and one Junior National Championship.

Omaha has also become a pipeline for players heading to the NCAA Division-I hockey ranks, as over 290 Lancers' players have been granted Division-I scholarships since the team's inception.

The Omaha Lancers have also been one of the most successful amateur sports franchises at the turnstiles. Home games are often played to a packed crowd of 4,000-plus enthusiastic fans. Even though the players are amateurs, they are treated like professionals by both fans and media alike.

As the tradition and reputation of the Lancers continues to grow, so too does the character of every team member. We take incredible pride in being the driving force in the development of our players. But more importantly is the pride in developing these young men into honest, disciplined individuals who are committed to excellence both on and off the ice.

We strongly believe the Lancers are a cut above the rest when it comes to providing a first-class setting for a young man to develop socially, academically, and athletically.
