Maine’s called Vacationland for a reason.  We’ve got pristine mountains and lakes, fields, forests and 3,500 miles of coastline. You can smell the salt sea in the air and see shooting stars above your head at night. Every corner of the state beckons you outside to enjoy its raw beauty, making Maine a haven for sports.

And for the pros, almost pros, not even close to pros and people who just like to cheer, the countless sporting events that take place here every year are a special treat. They’re a chance for everyone to enjoy, if even for a weekend, the special place we get to take in all year.

Plus with 4 seasons, Maine can host 4 times the types of events. Skiing to sailing, running to rafting, we can be the backdrop for it all. The Portland 10 Miler returns on Sunday, April 27th for its seventh running. This annual spring race is features a coastal course that covers ten-miles of Portland’s most recognizable roads and paths along Back Cove, Munjoy Hill and the Eastern Promenade.

It’s time to look forward to 2025!

Family Friendly Mud Run. The run is a 5k on the Thomas College Campus with 12-14 obstacles and as much Mud as we can offer.

Individual races, laps and fees are found on the main website. 

1. Awards Ceremony will be at 11:00 am to be eligible for awards you must be registered and run in an awards eligible heat.  They are 9:00, 9:10. 9:20, 9:30, 9:40, 9:50, and 10:00 am.

2. Kids Race will be all new this year and will be for kids 10 and under.  Kids 8-10 can run either the full adult course or the kids course at parents discretion.

3. This year our Lap racers will leave at 8:45 AM and complete as many laps of our course as they can. The last lap cutoff will be 12:00 PM. Are you up for the challenge? Unique Awards Ceremony to end the day.

We are excited to announce The Polar Bear Triathlon / Duathlon will be back on its traditional date of Saturday May 3, 2025.

The Polar Bear Triathlon / Duathlon is New England’s season opening event! A sprint triathlon and duathlon perfect for beginners and experienced triathletes alike combining a pool swim, a scenic bike course on country coastal roads, and epic and fast run on wide hard packed trails and quiet neighborhood streets.

The Polar Bear Triathlon and Duathlon takes place the first Saturday of May annually to open the triathlon season in New England. The race is contested on the beautiful campus of Bowdoin College with world class facilities including a 16 lane pool, locker rooms with showers (pending availability), wonderful flat grass transition area and world class event production. This pool swim triathlon is a great race for beginners to get their feet wet and seasoned triathletes to start their season without the concerns of a cold, open water swim.

Virtual participants compete them all at once, or separately, it’s up to you.  Swag will be mailed in June to all virtual participants.

The Polarbear Triathlon / Duathlon will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon. If you are not an annual member of USA Triathlon, you will need to purchase a $15 one-day membership when you register.

We started as a culture-led, community-built, and city-backed movement to bring professional soccer to Portland and the state of Maine. Our goal was simple: to create an elite club that reflects the character of Maine and drives economic, community, and cultural value to the city and state.

This home opener is sold out! The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open is being hosted March 20th at Lewiston High School, March 20th.

As Maine’s only professional club, we represent a people, place, and purpose. This club is a reflection of the diverse communities and cultures of Maine, from the Highlands to Downeast, Casco Bay to Acadia, Aroostook to the Forest City.

The Sebec River Canoe Race will be held May 10, 2025.

Registration begins at 8:30 at the Sebec Reading Room with free coffee and donuts. The 8 mile Class 2 WW race starts at 10:00am. The race ends at Veteran’s Park, Milo with free lunch and desserts. Tee shirts & drawings! $20 adults, $15 age 15 and under. Sponsored by Three Rivers Kiwanis Milo/Brownville. All proceeds go to helping area children and families.

RIVERLANDS 100 & RELAY

Welcome to Maine’s first 100 mile trail race, the Riverlands 100! 

Solo runners will do 4 laps of a beautiful 25-mile out-and-back trail at the Androscoggin Riverlands State Park in Turner, ME. The course is a little over half ATV trail that has a little of everything: river views of the Androscoggin (listen for loons!), dense forest, ups and downs, rocks and roots and hopefully some good mud. The rest is sweet single track, the best Maine offers. 

Our race is difficult, much more than the elevation profile would indicate. There is really no stretch where you can relax.  That said, an experienced ultrarunner can turn in a fast time. And first time 100 milers who finish can feel confident taking on any 100.

Thinking of making it a party? Register for the relay! Teams have 5 members.  The relay course will be 5 laps of a 20 mile out and back course which is slightly different than the solo 100 mile course. Each relay runner must complete at least one 20-mile lap. The relay teams are on the ATV trail for 80% of their 20 mile leg, with 20% single track. We have had some 4 person teams where one runner did two legs. This works, too!

The Riverlands 100 is a trail race put on by experienced trail runners for people who like to push their limits. Come join us!
