2026 Central Florida Showdown Recap

☀️⚾️ Central Florida Showdown Recap | Polk County, FL ⚾️☀️

This past weekend, we wrapped up our Central Florida Showdown — a key end-of-spring, pre-summer event — and it was another strong step forward in Polk County.

Hosted across 10 fields at three premier complexes:

📍 Northeast Regional Park (Davenport)

📍 Lake Myrtle Sports Complex (Auburndale)

📍 Chain of Lakes Park (Winter Haven)

The event featured 43 teams across 13U, 14U, and 16U divisions, a significant jump from 26 teams in its inaugural year.

📈 Growth like this speaks to the strength of the event — and the experience teams are having on and off the field.

🗣️ “This event continues to grow the right way. Polk County gives us the ability to utilize multiple top-tier facilities, and that creates a great atmosphere for teams as they head into the summer.” – Brian Werner, President, Prospect Wire

🗣️ “We’ve seen consistent growth in Polk County because of the partnership and the quality of venues. It’s a place where we know we can deliver a great event every time.”

— Nick Susie, National Director, Prospect Wire

🗣️ “Being there as both a coach and part of the Prospect Wire family, you really see the impact of these events. The organization, the facilities, and the competition level all stood out this weekend.”

— Rob Sitz, CEO, DS Sports

A huge thank you to Polk County & Visit Central Florida Sports for their continued support throughout the spring. Across all events, we hosted 224 teams this spring, up from 219 in 2025, reinforcing the consistency and strength of this destination.

⚾️ As we close out spring and turn toward a busy summer, Polk County continues to be a cornerstone of the Prospect Wire experience.
