The 7th Annual Prospect Wire National Championship Returns
COVID changed much of the landscape of the travel sports industry in March of 2020. When families returned to the fields, things did not look the same, especially in the baseball landscape. Gone were water coolers in the dugouts, replaced by individual yetis and coolers. Gone were the days of accepting cash at events, as gates & merch and concessions have all gone digital. Gone were the days where travel baseball ended in mid-October, replaced with 12 months of baseball if the weather is good enough.
The sport of baseball has changed dramatically over the last 6+ years. But one thing that has remained consistent is this: the West Coast of Florida is a great place to end your summer of traveling around the state/country!
For 6 years prior, the west coast of Florida, from Sarasota to Port Charlotte, has hosted the Prospect Wire National Championships. The event has routinely drawn 70+ teams to the area, making it a premier event to close out the summer.
“We love coming down to Sarasota & Port Charlotte. The weather might be hot and humid, but the atmosphere is unbeatable. Our group can’t wait to play some baseball, and then soak up some time on the beautiful beaches West Florida has to offer,” commented Jamie Matlock, Owner of Blueprint Baseball out of Tennessee.
“The event is awesome. We have enjoyed coming down to the west coast of Florida and playing in this event. The competition is really good, the facilities are some of the best we get to play on and the area is perfect for our families to relax when we are not on the ball field. Weather is always a tricky challenge to navigate, especially during the July/August months in Florida. Luckily, with some of the best facilities in the state, the hope is that if weather comes, the event will find a way to make it through.
“We have definitely faced our share of challenges with this event over the years. MLB facilities are amazing, but they are also protective of their fields, for obvious reasons. Florida weather is tricky, to put it mildly. Last year we did not get to finish several divisions, so we hope this year Mother Nature is a bit kinder to us,” commented Brian Werner, President of Prospect Wire

The event kicks off Saturday, July 18th and concludes on Wednesday, July 22nd. The event will host 5 divisions of teams, from 13U up to 18U. View event page here.
