The Museum, housed in the historic 2-room schoolhouse at 11740 New Kent Highway. Regular hours are Saturdays 10:00 - 2:00 and the first Monday of each month 10:00 - 2:00. Contact museum@newkenthistoricalsoc.com for appointments to visit during other times. There are exhibits of farm equipment, toys and household items from the 1930s and 40s, and the Green vs the Board of Education case. Admission is free.

We’re a community of runners, hikers, bikers and ballplayers. We’re an outdoor playground, designed by Mother Nature, with class III and IV rapids running right through our downtown. A 52-mile bike trail runs along the James. The Richmond Marathon and Ukrop’s 10k are huge celebrations, and the whole region comes out to cheer on our local teams. In 1695, the New Kent County Courthouse was moved to its present location. After several fires, the existing "old courthouse" was erected in 1909, and the restored old jail is home of the New Kent Historical Society
