<p>From its humble beginnings in 1974 as a fly-in for sport aviation enthusiasts, the SUN ‘n FUN Aerospace Expo has grown into one of the largest and most successful aviation events in the world. This event is Florida’s largest annual convention of any kind, and each year over 200,000 visitors flock to Lakeland for what has become known as <em>Aviation’s Season Opener</em> or <em>Spring Break for Pilots</em>.</p>

<p>You’ll find quite a few streets in this area decorated with amazing light displays! Make sure you explore Spring Court, and then go across to E. George Street and down all of the side streets (Helen St. &amp; Lila Circle) from there. You know it has to be good when it is known as “Christmas Tree Lane” to the locals! </p>
<p>From December 13 – 30, nightly from 6 to 10 pm you can ride through the decorated neighborhoods of Bartow in horse-drawn carriage. Prices range from $15-25 for kids and $20-50 for adults. <p>Legend has it that a Native American tribe in the area was being harassed by a giant alligator. They sent their warrior chief to fend off the beast. Following his brave battle to the death, the chief was buried on the north side of the hill. Years later, pioneers hauling goods from the army trail, noticed that their horses strained at the foot of the ridge, even though it appeared to be going downhill. This eerie occurrence is why they started to call this area Spook Hill.</p>
<p><em>Is the warrior chief and the alligator continuing their battle in the afterlife? Or is it a mere optical illusion?</em> The only way to know for sure is to try it for yourself!</p>

This free family-friendly fall festival includes a trick-or-treating, BOGO <a href="https://visitcentralflorida.org/featured/legoland-florida-resort/">LEGOLAND Florida Resort</a> tickets (Date Specific &amp; Credit Card Only), BOGO <a href="https://visitcentralflorida.org/featured/bok-tower-gardens/">Bok Tower Gardens</a> tickets, face painting, and local seasonal vendors. Food and gifts will be available for purchase from local vendors. Most importantly, vendors will be passing out candy for the kids. Costumes are welcome.</p>
<h3>Polk State College Annual FallFest</h3>
<h4>October 11, 2025 | 9:00-3:00 p.m.</h4>
<p>Upwards of 100 locals, businesses, and College clubs will set up booths all throughout the Winter Haven Campus with exciting, seasonal, and innovative homemade arts, crafts, and products. The event will also feature family-friendly activities such as games, haunted houses, bounce houses, shows, and presentations from local law enforcement and EMS. Polk State College clubs and athletics programs will also participate in the event to raise money for their organizations by hosting different activities and food sales.</p>
<h3>Harvest Holler Corn Maze</h3>
<h4>Weekends only starting September 19 &#8211; November 16, 2025.</h4>
