Fiddlin' & Folktales

Enspire Arts is proud to present our “Fiddlin’ & Folktales,” a magical evening of music interwoven with beautiful storytelling. Step back into a moment in time, captured within the cozy charm of the Covington House Historic Cabin. Together, we’ll gather to enjoy lively fiddling by Seth Moran and heartfelt folktales with storyteller Will Hornyak.

Bios:

Will Hornyak: From Irish myths and Russian folktales to Grimm’s brothers fairytales, Northwest tall tales and personal narratives, storyteller Will Hornyak weaves a wide web of oral traditions into spellbinding performances. An embodied and engaging performer, he draws audiences into a shared experience of wonder with “endless wit and boundless enthusiasm.” Will has educated, entertained and inspired audiences throughout the Northwest and beyond for over 30 years as a professional storyteller and workshop facilitator. He has assisted numerous non-profit and corporate organizations in finding and telling the stories that reflect their deepest values and highest vision.

Seth Moran: Seth started playing violin when he was 8 and played exclusively classical music through college, along the way transitioning over to viola. Since then he's gone down many musical paths, including fiddling at contra dances, playing in a marimba band, singing in choirs and glee clubs, playing electric fiddle in a rock band, and, since 2008, fiddling and singing with the Vancouver (USA)-based bluegrass band “Fadin’ by 9”. Most recently he's ventured into the world of live looping, where everything you hear is made up right there, on the spot, for better or worse. As "Fiddler on the Loop" Seth performs mostly original tunes using an electric violin, a large suite of guitar pedals to turn his fiddle into a cello, or a bass, or an electric guitar, and a multi-channel looping station to record all the action.
