Oregon Ranked Fourth Best State for Public Golf

Oregon Ranked Fourth Best State for Public Golf
Last year, when Golf Digest published its latest list of America’s 100 Greatest and Second 100 Greatest Courses rankings, it tallied up the states with the most courses on the lists to determine which state has the best golf in the United States. This offered a definitive look at the states with the greatest architecture, but since the list was dominated by private clubs, it neglected the experience of the everyday golfer. Now, with the data from its latest America’s 100 Greatest Public ranking, it’s applying the same method to determine which state has the greatest public golf.

On a recent Saturday, PDX Plex, an indoor sports arena in Southwest Portland, hosted Portland’s first amputee soccer clinic.

19-year-old Rookie Wins LPGA Portland Classic

19-year-old Rookie Wins LPGA Portland Classic
Ten days ago, Chanettee Wannasaen was hoping to find a way to simply qualify for a spot in the LPGA Portland Classic. On Sunday, the 19-year-old rookie from Thailand lifted the trophy as one of the most unlikely winners in the history of the tour. Wannasaen took control of the tournament by going 6 under in a five-hole stretch on the front nine Sunday on the way to a final-round 63 and a tournament-record 26 under par at Columbia Edgewater. The result came out of nowhere, as Wannasaen had missed nine consecutive LPGA cuts and had not finished better than 51st in a tour event this year.
