A large wetland complex ('Trinkle Marsh') is a premier spot for watching waterfowl. Every spring and fall, dozens of species of birds, including ducks, shorebirds, herons, cranes, and more, stop on their migration journey. Additionally, many other species use the preserve as their summer home for nesting and raising young birds. Two convenient boardwalks and overlooks take you to the water’s edge getting you close to wildlife.

Other features of the preserve include a scenic woodlot adjacent to the marsh. Another wetland complex is situated in the northern portion of the preserve. Portions of the property remain as active farmland, as it has been for well over 100 years.

Baker Woods Preserve has a mixture of forests and meadows. It is also home to the Chelsea District Library's Storybook Trail. The Storybook Trail displays a children's book along a nature trail, allowing for an interesting experience for hiking and reading outdoors. The Storybook trail is updated seasonally and is recommended for kids of all ages.

Another attractive site nature feature is Mill Creek, which traverses the property from north to south. The creek banks are in good condition and the creek itself is well shaded by adjacent vegetation. The site has a varied topography with especially steep slopes along the course of the creek. A parking lot and trails for public access were constructed in 2014.

White Lotus Farms, located just seven miles from downtown Ann Arbor, provides fresh produce, farmstead cheeses, artisan breads, and an array of other products produced here on our small farm.

Motawi Tileworks makes handcrafted tile as art pieces and for residential and commercial installations. Owner and Artistic Director Nawal Motawi began creating historically inspired tile in her garage and selling it at the local farmers market. Demand for her work grew, and in 1992 Motawi formed The Tileworks, which came to specialize in Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts and Midcentury Modern aesthetics. In addition to its own unique designs, The Tileworks is also licensed to produce art tile based on the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and Charley Harper. Brauer Preserve is a 226 acre nature preserve, with more than 2 miles of trails. Owned by Washtenaw County Natural Areas Preservation Program. This area protects diverse habitats, from sandy knolls to upland forests to wetlands, surrounding 85 acres of active conservation farmland. Great spot for birdwatching.

No dogs, bikes, or hunting allowed.

Fall Market

Flat Water is a Big Bear Tournaments ice hockey tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan, running October 2–4, 2026. Sanctioned by USA Hockey, the event welcomes 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams at B, A and AA levels. Each team is guaranteed four games, with the final game serving as a championship or consolation contest, and game periods vary by age division.

The 9th Annual 5K Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk is an in-person community event at Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants can run or walk alongside friends and family while raising awareness and showing support for people affected by domestic violence. This approximately three-and-a-half-hour event offers a meaningful way for the community to come together in support of survivors.&#x20;

E-Race the Stigma with the Trinity Health Probility Ann Arbor Marathon! Supporting local mental health charities, participants run through the vibrant streets of downtown Ann Arbor, then wind their way through the panoramic University of Michigan campus. The marathon, half-marathon, and 10K courses also encompass stretches along the Huron River and Gallup Park and through Nichols Arboretum before returning to campus and downtown.

The 2026 Women in Sports: ElevateHER Summit, presented by Michigan Athletics, brings together student-athletes, alumni, community members, coaches and attendees for an evening focused on opportunity, leadership and the future of women in sports. Held October 15 at Crisler Center, the event features networking with current and former student-athletes and coaches beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel at 6 p.m. with Michigan alumnae and prominent sports-industry leaders including Andrea Joyce, Kate Johnson, Estee Portnoy, Casey E. Taylor and Li Li Leung. The summit offers storytelling, professional development, networking and mentorship.
