Owl Night Hike

Just as the sun sets on Hudson Mills Metropark, we will start with an indoor presentation about owls in Michigan, adaptations, and how to identify owls. After, we will head out on the trail to search for Michigan native owls. We will discover the amazing characteristics of owls and how to identify the physical and vocal characteristics of the owl species in Southeastern Michigan.

What to Expect:
This owl hike is family friendly for children aged 8 and up with their parents. This program starts indoors and ends outside. The remainder of the 1.5-hour program time will be spent walking on the nature trails. The time outside will be spent on a leisurely walk with frequent stops. Expect to walk less than 1 mile. The planned path surface is dirt, gravel, and grass with frequently rolling and slightly hilly grade that is not suitable for adaptive walking equipment. No prior experience is necessary. Time includes small group instruction. For maximum enjoyment, some of our 1.5-hour program time will require all participants to patiently remain quiet and listen closely.

Ages: Ages 8 and up. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
