The Gerald R. Ford Library collects, preserves, and makes accessible to the public a rich body of archival materials on U.S. domestic issues, foreign relations, and political affairs during the Cold War era, focusing on the Ford administration.

The Library is available to rent and serves as a unique historic event space, a hidden gem in Ann Arbor. The Bentley Historical Library collects the materials for and promotes the study of the histories of two great, intertwined institutions, the State of Michigan and the University of Michigan.

The Library is open without fee to the public, and we welcome researchers regardless of academic or professional affiliation.

The Bentley’s 11,000 research collections range from the papers of governors of Michigan, to the records of student and faculty life at the University, to the entire historical record of intercollegiate athletics at Michigan, and much more.

The Library houses a state-of-the-art conservation lab that conserves books, maps, architectural drawings, and other materials. The lab is also where expert archivists and conservators teach conservation techniques and aid in the reformatting of preserved materials.

Bentley Historical Library

The mission of the Duderstadt Gallery is to exhibit the widest range of creative talents from within the University. Exhibits may be either two- or three-dimensional, from art to engineering products, or computer-based interactive displays.

The space consists of a 2,600-square-foot octagonal room fronted by a long glass wall. Exhibitions are free and open to the public.

U-M Gallery at Duderstadt Center

The James and Anne Duderstadt Center, formerly known as the Media Union, opened in 1996 as a special place to provide faculty and students with the tools and collaborative space for creating the future. With 400+ computers available 24/7, the Duderstadt Center is the largest public computing site at the University of Michigan.

It also offers student access to 3D and virtual reality labs, a large video production studio, a state-of-the-art audio recording studio, two electronic music studios and Video conferencing and unique collaboration rooms.

The Lunch Room, when possible, uses local and organic produce, makes everything from scratch from fine ingredients, and emphasizes environmental sustainability. The Bakery and Cafe serves baked goods, bagel sandwiches, breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee and drinks.

Cardamom seeks to explore what Indian food and culture have done for centuries—take the best from outside influences and create something new, but distinctly Indian. Indian cuisine has been influenced over the centuries by a host of cultures including Persian, Chinese, Portuguese and British. Indian chefs and home cooks have a long history of taking outside flavors and cooking techniques, and combining them with their native spices. India is a vast country and very diverse. Cardamom designed their menu to reflect this diversity, and then to take it a step further by adding their own Western-influenced dishes.

Just over fifty years ago, a groundbreaking moment changed the course of history. On October 7, 1975, President Gerald Ford signed Public Law 94-106, opening enrollment to women at all US service academies.  
  
Hear how that moment impacted Kathleen Kornahrens and her fellow graduates, as she relays her experience as a member of the first class to include women at the US Air Force Academy, over half a century later. She will be joined by her classmate Colonel Gail Colvin, USAF (Ret.) to examine the legacy of President Ford’s signature.

Flat Water is a Big Bear Tournaments ice hockey tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan, running October 2–4, 2026. Sanctioned by USA Hockey, the event welcomes 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams at B, A and AA levels. The 9th Annual 5K Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk is an in-person community event at Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants can run or walk alongside friends and family while raising awareness and showing support for people affected by domestic violence. This approximately three-and-a-half-hour event offers a meaningful way for the community to come together in support of survivors.&#x20;

E-Race the Stigma with the Trinity Health Probility Ann Arbor Marathon! Supporting local mental health charities, participants run through the vibrant streets of downtown Ann Arbor, then wind their way through the panoramic University of Michigan campus. The marathon, half-marathon, and 10K courses also encompass stretches along the Huron River and Gallup Park and through Nichols Arboretum before returning to campus and downtown.

The 2026 Women in Sports: ElevateHER Summit, presented by Michigan Athletics, brings together student-athletes, alumni, community members, coaches and attendees for an evening focused on opportunity, leadership and the future of women in sports. Held October 15 at Crisler Center, the event features networking with current and former student-athletes and coaches beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel at 6 p.m. with Michigan alumnae and prominent sports-industry leaders including Andrea Joyce, Kate Johnson, Estee Portnoy, Casey E. Taylor and Li Li Leung. The summit offers storytelling, professional development, networking and mentorship.
