The Jefferson Market

Allmendinger Park is an 8-acre park located on Pauline Boulevard between Hutchins and Edgewood Avenue, southwest of downtown. It has a mix of open spaces and oak woods.

The park contains softball fields, a restroom facility (closed in winter) and water fountain, a play area nestled in an oak and hickory grove, picnic tables, a tennis court and a basketball court. An asphalt path connects the play area, picnic area and restroom facility. In the spring, lilacs along the southwest edge bloom.

Many people go there to fly kites, run with their dogs, chase their kids around the baseball diamonds, practice martial arts and picnic. The kids playground makes a good birthday spot and provides plenty of shade. A favorite feature of the playground is the classic merry go round.

The Argus Museum features products manufactured by the Argus Camera Company and tells the stories of the company, the people involved and showcases unique collections connected to Argus.

The mission of the Argus Museum is to:

- Collect, preserve, and interpret the significance of Argus cameras, corporate history and personnel.
- To collect and share stories of the inventiveness of Argus in order to grow appreciation for and be inspired by this work.
- To enlighten others as to how Argus products, its work, and its company personnel are a significant reflection of our culture, historical eras, and its greater community.
- To provoke an awareness of photography as a form of art and communication as envisioned by the Argus company.

The Museum is housed on the second floor of the original building where International Radio Corporation made radios, and its successor company, Argus Cameras Inc., made photographic equipment.

The Argus Museum was established by Ann Arbor-area developer, William Martin, and O’Neal Construction owner, Joe O’Neal. It opened in the original Argus building when the pair purchased it for O’Neal Construction in 1985. Martin and O’Neal knew the historic significance of the building, so they gave their partnership the name C3 Partners representing one of the most recognizable cameras from Argus, the C3.

UMC Trunk or Treat

Flat Water is a Big Bear Tournaments ice hockey tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan, running October 2–4, 2026. Sanctioned by USA Hockey, the event welcomes 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams at B, A and AA levels. Each team is guaranteed four games, with the final game serving as a championship or consolation contest, and game periods vary by age division.

The 9th Annual 5K Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk is an in-person community event at Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants can run or walk alongside friends and family while raising awareness and showing support for people affected by domestic violence. This approximately three-and-a-half-hour event offers a meaningful way for the community to come together in support of survivors.&#x20;

E-Race the Stigma with the Trinity Health Probility Ann Arbor Marathon! Supporting local mental health charities, participants run through the vibrant streets of downtown Ann Arbor, then wind their way through the panoramic University of Michigan campus. The marathon, half-marathon, and 10K courses also encompass stretches along the Huron River and Gallup Park and through Nichols Arboretum before returning to campus and downtown.

The 2026 Women in Sports: ElevateHER Summit, presented by Michigan Athletics, brings together student-athletes, alumni, community members, coaches and attendees for an evening focused on opportunity, leadership and the future of women in sports. Held October 15 at Crisler Center, the event features networking with current and former student-athletes and coaches beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel at 6 p.m. with Michigan alumnae and prominent sports-industry leaders including Andrea Joyce, Kate Johnson, Estee Portnoy, Casey E. Taylor and Li Li Leung. The summit offers storytelling, professional development, networking and mentorship.
