Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is a public university. Currently, EMU comprises seven colleges and schools. The university's site is composed of an academic and athletic campus spread across 800 acres, with over 120 buildings. EMU has a total enrollment of more than 23,000 students.

With three floors of available event spaces, the Eastern Michigan University Student Center can accommodate a wide variety of events from a business meeting for 10 to a banquet for more than 1,000.

The EMU Quirk Dramatic Arts Building houses three theatres: Quirk, Sponberg and Frank Ross Laboratory Theatre, and is home to the University’s Department of Communication and Theatre Arts. EMU stages a variety of performances during the theatre season that typically spans from September to June.

The Student Center, located on the north side of campus, houses two gallery spaces. First is the University Gallery, which features major exhibitions and events intended for both the School of Art & Design, the University public and the larger community. The premier art gallery on campus, featuring exhibitions by regional, national, and international artists.

Located on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ford Hall, this gallery maintains a year-round schedule of exhibitions and artist lectures. It serves as a venue for the work of outside artists and graduate thesis exhibitions, as well as undergraduate and graduate student exhibitions.

Pease Auditorium is a classic concert hall on the campus of Eastern Michigan University that seats 1,700. It is an ideal facility for lectures, small commencement ceremonies and concerts of varying types.

Frog Island is a 5.0 acre park on the Huron River just north of Riverside Park, between Cross Street and Forest Avenue. Frog Island has a small amphitheater at the southern end, a soccer field and running track in the middle, and a community garden maintained by the adjacent neighborhoods at the north end.

Frog Island is connected to Riverside Park via the "tridge", a three-pointed bridge at the south end of the park.

Sherzer Observatory is an astronomical observatory located on the Eastern Michigan University campus. It is operated by Physics & Astronomy staff and student volunteers from the EMU Astronomy Club.

The observatory is open on clear Tuesday evenings from September through April (academic year), and at select times during spring/summer terms (May through August). They are also scheduled to open on clear Monday evenings after 7:30 p.m. (and perhaps occasional Thursday evenings later in the term) for the Winter 2017 term for lab observations. A quick check of the observatory phone may verify if they are observing on a particular evening. The observatory observes all university holidays and closures.

Peninsular Park is a beautiful park that was once the site of the Peninsular Paper Company. It is a great park for fishing, especially on the walkway below the Peninsular Dam.

Flat Water is a Big Bear Tournaments ice hockey tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan, running October 2–4, 2026. Sanctioned by USA Hockey, the event welcomes 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams at B, A and AA levels. Each team is guaranteed four games, with the final game serving as a championship or consolation contest, and game periods vary by age division.

The 9th Annual 5K Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk is an in-person community event at Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants can run or walk alongside friends and family while raising awareness and showing support for people affected by domestic violence. This approximately three-and-a-half-hour event offers a meaningful way for the community to come together in support of survivors.&#x20;

E-Race the Stigma with the Trinity Health Probility Ann Arbor Marathon! Supporting local mental health charities, participants run through the vibrant streets of downtown Ann Arbor, then wind their way through the panoramic University of Michigan campus. The marathon, half-marathon, and 10K courses also encompass stretches along the Huron River and Gallup Park and through Nichols Arboretum before returning to campus and downtown.

The 2026 Women in Sports: ElevateHER Summit, presented by Michigan Athletics, brings together student-athletes, alumni, community members, coaches and attendees for an evening focused on opportunity, leadership and the future of women in sports. Held October 15 at Crisler Center, the event features networking with current and former student-athletes and coaches beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel at 6 p.m. with Michigan alumnae and prominent sports-industry leaders including Andrea Joyce, Kate Johnson, Estee Portnoy, Casey E. Taylor and Li Li Leung. The summit offers storytelling, professional development, networking and mentorship.

Located inside the Olds-Robb Student Recreation/Intramural Complex, Jones Natatorium is the home venue for Eastern Michigan University's swimming and diving team.

The pool features an Olympic-sized 50M pool with spring (1M and 3M) and platform (5M, 7M, and 10M) diving boards. Jones Natatorium has held numerous state and local swimming and diving competitions.
