The North Star Lounge is an intimate music venue and vegan bar, brought to you by the folks at Detroit Street Filling Station and The Lunch Room.

They have a weekly lineup of music and events as follows: Tuesday is LGBTQ Night, Wednesday is Hot Club Jazz, Thursday is Piano Bar, Friday is Bluegrass, and Saturday is Rotating local artists.

The North Star Lounge occupies a historic, red-brick two-story house located at the corner of N. Fifth Ave and Catherine St. The first floor holds a bar and seating. The second floor is an open space with a stage, piano, booths and tables, and a vintage jukebox.The building houses numerous plants and plant-like sculptures that, together with the numerous windows and brick-wall theme, blend indoor and outdoor design elements.

The purpose of the North Star Lounge is three-fold: to provide opportunities for musicians to showcase their talent; to bring people together to enjoy the events and each other and to have fun; and to put Ann Arbor on the map as having the first entirely vegan bar in the state.

The mission of the Detroit Street Filling Station is to prepare high-quality, nutritious vegan food, and to demonstrate the breadth and versatility of plant-based whole foods. Detroit Street Filling Station, when possible, uses local and organic produce, makes everything from scratch from fine ingredients, and emphasizes environmental sustainability. The restaurant features an outdoor patio, weekly live music, and a seasonally changing menu.

Flat Water is a Big Bear Tournaments ice hockey tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan, running October 2–4, 2026. Sanctioned by USA Hockey, the event welcomes 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams at B, A and AA levels. Each team is guaranteed four games, with the final game serving as a championship or consolation contest, and game periods vary by age division.

The 9th Annual 5K Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk is an in-person community event at Frog Island Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. E-Race the Stigma with the Trinity Health Probility Ann Arbor Marathon! Supporting local mental health charities, participants run through the vibrant streets of downtown Ann Arbor, then wind their way through the panoramic University of Michigan campus. The marathon, half-marathon, and 10K courses also encompass stretches along the Huron River and Gallup Park and through Nichols Arboretum before returning to campus and downtown.

The 2026 Women in Sports: ElevateHER Summit, presented by Michigan Athletics, brings together student-athletes, alumni, community members, coaches and attendees for an evening focused on opportunity, leadership and the future of women in sports. Held October 15 at Crisler Center, the event features networking with current and former student-athletes and coaches beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a panel at 6 p.m. with Michigan alumnae and prominent sports-industry leaders including Andrea Joyce, Kate Johnson, Estee Portnoy, Casey E. Taylor and Li Li Leung. The summit offers storytelling, professional development, networking and mentorship.
