Chicago Sky Breaks Ground on $38 Million Practice Facility as Part of Wintrust Sports Complex Expansion

The Chicago Sky, in partnership with the Village of Bedford Park, celebrated the groundbreaking of their new $38 million state-of-the-art practice facility yesterday. Set to open before the 2026 WNBA season, this new development marks a significant step forward for both the Sky and the community of Bedford Park. The practice facility will be a key part of the Phase 2 expansion of the Wintrust Sports Complex, a 116,000 sq. ft. sports and event venue that will serve as the Sky’s new neighbor.

Wintrust Sports Complex Becomes a Hotspot for Elite Jiu-Jitsu Competitions

In the span of just two months, Wintrust Sports Complex in Bedford Park, IL, has hosted two premier jiu-jitsu tournaments, marking a major milestone in our facility’s growing reputation as a hub for combat and mat sports. This summer, we proudly welcomed the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) in August, followed by the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Chicago Open in September. Both events attracted a broad range of athletes, bringing an unparalleled level of excitement and showcasing some of the top jiu-jitsu talent in the country.

On August 6th, Chicago Bulls guard Coby White brought his passion for basketball to the youth in Bedford Park by hosting a memorable youth basketball camp at Wintrust Sports Complex. Chicago Sky to Build State-of-the-Art Practice Facility in Bedford Park, Adjacent to Wintrust Sports Complex

The Chicago Sky has officially announced plans to construct a brand-new, state-of-the-art practice facility right next door to Wintrust Sports Complex, further strengthening our growing sports hub in Bedford Park. In partnership with the Village of Bedford Park, the groundbreaking for this exciting project will take place this fall, with the facility slated for completion by December 2025. This cutting-edge complex will be located just 11 miles from the Sky’s home court at Wintrust Arena, a significant improvement from their current facility, which is nearly 30 miles away and shared with local residents, students, and various organizations.

Future Stars Shine: UAA Finals and One-Six Tournament Light Up Wintrust Sports Complex!

Earlier this summer, the Wintrust Sports Complex was proud to host the prestigious Under Armour Association (UAA) Finals. This massive, championship event served as the pinnacle of a yearlong league-style circuit, bringing together the nation’s top high school boys’ basketball teams at the 17U and 16U levels. Two teams were ultimately crowned UAA Champions: Team Thrill (17U) and KC Run GMC (16U).

26th Annual Tohkon Judo Classic at Wintrust Sports Complex

Last week, the 26th Annual Tohkon Dojo Judo Classic made its debut at The Wintrust Sports Complex! Athletes of all ages, from 5 to adult, showcased their skills in a day of intense competition. We were honored to host their clinic led by champions Judo Megumi Ishikawa and Ryunoske Haga, followed by an exciting team tournament for youth judoka. A fantastic experience for all!

Wintrust Sports Complex has the honor of hosting 26 Division 1 volleyball programs including Nebraska, Clemson, Marquette, Louisville, Depaul, and Northwestern. As well as over 150 female high school athletes in classes 2025-27 that are participating in this two-day event (June 3-4, 6:00pm – 9:00pm).
